Battle of Dragoslavele(1916)
Background
Dragoslavele was one of several simultaneous pass battles in October 1916. Romania needed to hold at least some passes long enough to complete the Bucharest evacuation plan and transfer government functions to Iași. Each week gained at a pass like Dragoslavele translated directly into organized state survival.

The Battle
Romanian forces held the Bran Pass area against Falkenhayn's attempt to break through at Dragoslavele for eleven days. After sustained fighting, the German advance was halted and they withdrew to regroup.
“"For eleven days they came at the pass and for eleven days we sent them back. When they finally stopped coming we were too exhausted to cheer. We had done what we needed to do." — Romanian mountain infantry officer, Dragoslavele, October 1916
Casualties & Outcome
~4,000 total killed and wounded (Romania); ~3,000 total (Germany / Austria-Hungary)
Romania achieved victory over Germany / Austria-Hungary.
Falkenhayn redirected his main effort southward through Predeal Pass and the Prahova Valley. Romanian forces at Dragoslavele gained valuable time but the collapse at Jiu Valley and other passes made the overall position untenable by mid-November.
