The Battle

Skirmishes in Arieș valley blocked Hungarian forces from linking with Abrud offensives.
Throughout the summer of 1849, Legiunea Arieșului engaged a Hungarian garrison from Turda in a series of skirmishes within the Arieș Valley. Fighting occurred across forested hills and along the river valley, amidst warm summer weather. Romanian forces employed harassment and ambushes, disrupting Hungarian supply columns and blocking roads to impede reinforcements for offensives against Abrud. These probing attacks, met with Hungarian ambushes, ultimately resulted in a Romanian victory after fourteen days, establishing a protective buffer on the Apuseni.
