In autumn 1848, during the Wallachian Revolution, an Ottoman Imperial Army attempted to enter Bucharest. A Wallachian peasant crowd, numbering an unknown quantity, hastily assembled at the Beilic Bridge to impede the advance. Ottoman forces launched a three-column frontal assault, encountering resistance for approximately 2.5 hours. The engagement resulted in an Ottoman victory, marking a violent conclusion to the revolution’s initial peaceful phase.
