The Battle

Stefan invaded Wallachia to replace the pro-Ottoman Radu the Handsome with a pro-Moldavian candidate. Defeated Radu's forces at Soci. Temporarily installed Laiotă Basarab.
In spring 1471, Stefan III of Moldova invaded Wallachia with an unspecified number of troops, aiming to install a Moldavian-backed ruler. Fighting occurred in the Wallachian piedmont near Buzău, characterized by cavalry engagements and a rapid Moldavian advance. A hasty Wallachian defense, led by Radu the Handsome, failed to prevent a Moldavian victory. The invasion resulted in Radu’s defeat and the temporary imposition of a pro-Moldavian candidate.
