The Battle

Ottoman-backed Wallachian forces pushed into the Moldavian Danube frontier. Stefan responded with a counteroffensive near the Danube mouth in Basarabia, defeating the combined force.

In summer 1500, Ottoman-supported Wallachian forces advanced into the Moldavian Danube frontier. Prince Stephen responded with a two-day counteroffensive along the southern Bessarabian frontier near the Danube mouth. Moldavian cavalry engaged in a frontal assault against a hastily assembled defense. The resulting victory secured the Moldavian Danube frontier and marked one of Stephen’s successes during the Moldavian-Ottoman Frontier Wars.
